BENEFITS OF A SECOND SHOOTER

There’s a lot to think about when it comes to planning your dream day and your wedding photography is one of the biggest decisions you will have to make. So to help make your decision, we thought we would share with you the benefits of having a second shooter on your day!

One of our favourite things about being a husband and wife photography team is that there are two of us!

We offer two photographers, thats us , with all of our packages to cover every wedding or elopement. This is because we believe there are loads of benefits to having two photographers. Even if you are planning a more intimate wedding or elopement!

Have you ever wondered why you would want to have two photographers at your wedding? Using our experience, having two photographers at your wedding or event is invaluable, so we have put together our top reasons how a second shooter can benefit you!

Firstly what is a second shooter?

To start with, what is a ‘second shooter’ or second photographer? Basically, a second wedding photographer is someone who accompanies and works alongside the ‘Primary Wedding Photographer’ who photographs different angles, separate locations and assists with all the logistics of wedding day photography.

Saves Time and Hours of Coverage

Being able to more flexible is a great advantage to having two photographers when your have a small timeline, normally with either a late ceremony or if your going for a winter wedding when it gets dark early, still allowing for more candids and have better coverage of your day!

It’s also fantastic for your wedding morning, capturing both partners wedding prep and it also means that moments wont be missed and time will be saved as we can capture them at the same time rather than needing extra coverage to photograph it and include travel!

Having two photographers also means that we can if needed be in two places at once!

Two Photographers Will Serve You Better and Help With Posing

Second shooters don’t always work as an extra photographer. Sometimes it’s better to have them help out as an assistant and help do the other elements of work that are needed rather than take pictures. Whether that means working with lighting, setting up equipment, running to get water for you, or holding an umbrella up for you in the pouring rain. It’s also handy for fluffing veils and wedding dresses, making them look simply perfect for pictures!

When we take our couples for portraits, it’s great to have the two of us there to help explain and model different poses. It’s hard to demonstrate a lift or a dip if you don’t have a partner!

Two Cheerleaders

Thats right you get two photographers as your cheerleaders, making sure that you are happy and that you get all the special treatment you deserve on your wedding day!

We will be your friends and third/fourth wheels to make you laugh, take an intimate walk with and help you look and feel your best through out the day!

More creativity and variety

Having two of us capturing the same thing makes for different angles and often a different creative twist to an image. This allows us to see things differently and to also have some more artist and creative photographs of your day that we otherwise wouldn’t have time for.

We can capture your day from two different perspectives allowing us to capture more details, emotions and make sure you have a good variety of photographs showing your full story.

On wedding days we often take portraits of individuals and families that are close family members or friends of the couple. Without a second photographer, pictures like this wouldn’t be possible! Again, you will get more pictures and a lot more variety!

More Candid Pictures and Generally More Pictures!

Having two photographers does mean we capture more, whether it be of your wedding, portraits or any other photography coverage. This is definitely a great advantage. While the main photographer captures all the action and main highlights from the day, the second photographer captures all the candid moments and details that otherwise could be missed.

More Reception Coverage

Another great reason to have two photographers is to get more reception coverage! There is always a lot that happens during a wedding reception. From guests coming and going, to the spread of a larger venue, and the myriad of details to capture, having both of us there ensures we don't miss a single moment. With two sets of eyes and cameras, we can seamlessly capture all the different parts of your reception, from the heartfelt speeches to the energetic dance floor moments, ensuring that every aspect of your celebration is beautifully documented.

Having a Second photographer provides a backup

Your primary shooter has normally got two cameras on them and shoots with both of them throughout the day, so they always have a backup camera on them. But the second shooter provides a further backup and are also a back for the main shooter! So if something epic happens while we’ve gone to grab a drink, change batteries or camera cards, for example, you’ve still got coverage!

We love working with our couples and working together. Two photographers make everything run smoother on a wedding day and always ensure that you will get more pictures and a larger variety of images too!
