WEDDING BRIDAL & GROOM PREP DETAILS AND STYLING

One of our favourite things to capture on your wedding day is all your details and small elements that you have spent time thinking about and put together. Our flat lays are a great way of displaying and placing all of the small items together to create a beautiful and unique picture that represents you and the small details that otherwise could be forgotten or lost.

Being a husband and wife photography team is great for morning prep because we often get to capture both partners prep and be able to get two different flat lays and detail shots that represent each partner.

Have a shoe box!

We advice to have a shoe box or bag that you can use, put it aside early on and slowly put items that you want to have in your flat lay and available for you photographer on the morning of your wedding. We know this sounds a little odd but this is a great way of keeping everything together, keeping if safe and allows us to work faster and not have everyone hunting for that one item that you want photographed but just can’t find. All elements that you want to be included in your wedding flat lays can then be safe in one place and we can tell your unique love story and journey through your beautiful, personal and unique items.

Don’t know what to set aside for you photographers to create beautiful flat lays?

Here are a few items that you can put aside to be able to create those awesome flat lays and detail photographs that we all love.

  • Rings + ring box - We actually have a small collection of vintage ring boxes that we can bring along to help if you are stuck or want something a little different and vintage to display your beautiful rings.

  • Florals - This can be anything from buttonholes, your bouquet or even flowers you are having in your hair like flower crowns!

  • Letters to each other - This is a great way of having something personal, romantic and being able to connect with your partner before the wedding.

  • Gifts to each other - We love these, they don’t have to be gifts that you plan on giving on the day of your wedding, although that is always really sweet and often evokes a lot of emotion but maybe a gift that means a lot about you as a couple or where your journey together started. Its things like this that make your images and day so personal.

  • Invites - You normally spend so much time choosing invites which represent you as a couple, your event and your details, so why not have them captured as another keepsake to remember the planning process and build up to your big day. We know that is might be a bit sour at the moment as many have had to postpone their dates and plans but adding your postponement details with your new date invites also adds to your story and is apart of your journey to your big day!

  • Perfume/cologne - Yes, these lovely decorative bottles that we quite often spend a lot of money on can be added to your flat lay and look great!

  • Favours - If your having some unique favours like plants, lolly pops, fans, cakes, pins etc why not include them too. They can be a great and interesting detail!

  • Ribbons - We love ribbons, If you have ribbons that you are attaching to your bouquet or for any other details on your wedding day, these are great things to include to give some texture, even cut offs!

  • Accessories - We know this is a big one and covers a lot of things but here are a few accessories that you could consider including; hair details, wedding veil, clips, ties, jewellery, watches, cufflinks or garland. There are many more things that can be added to this list but I think the best things to consider is if it means something to you or it tells an element of your story then include it!

  • Shoes - Your wedding shoes can be a really personal statement piece of your outfit and something that you have spent a lot of money on and getting right, so why not let them have their moment!

  • Your Vows - Handwritten or printed in beautiful books, these are definitely something that we think should be included in your flat lays. They tell so much about your relationship, your journey, your weddings day and your vision of your future.

  • Anything nostalgic from your journey together - This can be something from your first date, where you first kisses, where you getting married or how your partner asked the big question.

  • Pictures or polaroids - We love including old photographs!

  • Your dress/suit of whatever you are wearing that day - Yes even your clothing details can be including in your flat lays!

These are just a few ideas that will help us piece together, capture and tell your story on your wedding day. Then we can work our magic!

We also have access to our own styling kit, which includes vintage wedding ring boxes, ribbons, dishes and much more, if this is also something you want to discuss and possibly include to create more interest we will be happy to see what we have that still suits you and just helps bring your own details to life!

After reading all of these things that you can bring to your wedding day to help capture details and tell your story, do you feel you can get organised and have a better understanding on what you want?

We love working together with our couples to capture their amazing journey and unique love stories.
